Pavement Reconstruction Project Set To Resume

(KAIR)--The Kansas  Department of Transportation has announced that pavement reconstruction work on a stretch of U.S. 73/K-7 northwest of Leavenworth is set to resume Tuesday morning.

According to a release from KDOT, the work will start at 9:00 from the north junction of Leavenworth County Road 14, south to Sixteenth Street. Traffic will be shifted back onto Leavenworth County Road 14/Santa Fe Trail detour route so that crews can complete final construction work on the project.

Crews will work on replacing the temporary rock shoulders with concrete pavement shoulders, and pavement replacement tie in work at one intersection and an approximately ¼ mile section of highway located on the north end of the project. Once that's done, traffic will be shifted back to the existing roadway, and work will then start on Leavenworth County Road 14/Santa Fe Trail.

The estimated completion date for the project is mid-summer of this year, weather permitting.
