Falls City Council Meets

(KLZA)-- The Falls City Council approved the purchase of a 2016 Aerial Basket Truck for the Utility Department when they met this week. The cost of the truck is $130,794. The new truck will replace the current aerial truck that has been in service for more than 20 years. 

Mayor Jerry Oliver presented a plaque to Don Baldwin honoring his community service.  Baldwin served 20 years and six months on the City Council and has been a long time member of the Tree Board and also served on the Falls City Housing Authority. 

The Council approved several appointments during the meeting including former Police Chief John Caverzagie and Leslie Stevens to the Housing Authority; Sandy Schwarting to the Park Board and Justin Mosher, Terry Handley and Timothy Daniels to the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department.  

A request from Mark Gill to build a garage at 1703 Towle Street was approved on a 7-1 vote with Council member John Vaughn casting the nay vote. 

Special designated liquor licenses were approved on 6-2 votes. Council members Vaughn and Judy Murphy cast nay votes to requests for a July 11th Beer Garden at 19th and Stone and for two wedding receptions at Prichard Auditorium, all three for The Would Eye.
