(KNZA)--A rear-end collision in Lansing Monday afternoon leaves one died and two seriously injured.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says killed in the wreck at the intersection of U.S. 73 and 4-H Road was 65-year-old Kansas City, Kansas resident Jean Young.

The Patrol says a northbound sports utility vehicle on U.S.73 driven by 61-year-old Leavenworth resident Deanna Nicodemus had stopped for a red light when for an unknown reason Young failed to stop and struck the rear of the vehicle.

Deanna Nicodemus and a passenger, 64-year-old Terry Nicodemus, of Leavenworth, were both taken to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City with disabling injuries.

The Patrol says all the occupants were wearing seatbelts.

The wreck was reported shortly before 3:30.
