05/06/2015

(KAIR)--The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced that the pavement replacement project on a 1.6 mile stretch of U.S. 73/K-7 in Leavenworth County is scheduled to start Monday.

According to a release from KDOT, the project will take place on a section of road between the north side of the Fourth Street/Cheyenne Street intersection to the 20th Street interchange, including a section on K-92 from Fourth Street to the Centennial Bridge.

Work will start on the north side of U.S. 73/K-7 between the Seventh and Tenth Street intersections. It will then move west in the north side lanes to the 20th Street interchange and then will switch to the south side lanes as crews head east to Seventh Street.

Traffic on U.S. 73/K-7 will be placed side by side, and reduced to one lane in each direction twenty four hours a day through each phase of construction. Traffic will be directed through the work zone via cones and signage.

Work will take place primarily during daylight hours Monday-Friday, with some occasional Saturday work.

There will be a 35 MPH speed limit and drivers should expect delays during peak commute times.
