Humboldt Firemen Praised For Train Fire Response
05/01/2015

(KLZA)-- Richardson County Emergency Management Director Brian Dixon praised the efforts of the Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department in a Facebook post, on a job well done Thursday evening.

According to the post, a vague call was received of a train on fire.  After collecting information the Humboldt Fire Department was able to get equipment to a scene a few miles east of Humboldt.

A driver motor on the train overheated and shorted out. The engineer noticed the problem east of Table Rock and by the time the train reached Humboldt, the electric motor was on fire.

When the train slowed down the fire was out, water applied to the front of the motor and wheels to cool them off. Firemen were back at the station by 10 p-m.
