(KNZA)--Threatening the victim with a handgun while trying to steal a rifle.
That's the story outlined in court documents related to an alleged home invasion on the Kickapoo Reservation last Friday afternoon.
Former Kickapoo Tribal Council member Westley Banks is charged with four felonies in connection with the crime, including aggravated kidnapping. That's based on the allegation that Dylan Thomas was held at the Reservation residence while threatened by Banks, who was armed with a pistol. Banks was allegedly attempting to take a Savage Model 90 Rifle that was in the victim's possession, leading to the charge of aggravated robbery.
35-year-old Banks is also formally charged with aggravated assault, and criminal threat, along with criminal damage to property for allegedly forcefully entering the residence by breaking open the door.
Banks, who resigned from the Tribal Council Tuesday, remains in the Brown County Jail, held on bond of $500,000.
Also accused of taking part in the home invasion is 21-year-old Andrew Darnell, who's held on bond of $100,000 and charged with aggravated robbery and criminal threat.
Preliminary hearings for both men are set for May 6th.
A third suspect, identified as Tyler “Tiger” Banks remains on the run and is considered armed and dangerous.
