(KNZA)--A strong achievement for a Highland Community College Sophomore, whose essay was selected for inclusion in a widely used college textbook.
Brandon Beavers, of Springfield, Missouri, worked with his writing instructor, Dr. Harold Arnett, to write the essay that becomes one of only eight chosen for inclusion in On Course: Strategies for Creating Success in College and in Life. Over 100 entries were submitted to the essay contest.
According to a press release from the college, the textbook's publisher says that more than 100,000 students at over 500 colleges and universities use the textbook, written by Dr. Skip Downing, every year.
Following a review of the submitted essays, Dr. Downing personally contacted Beavers, and supplied him with suggestions on ways to improve the work.
Beavers, in the press release, states that he used each suggestion he was given, with the essay to be included in the next edition of On Course: Strategies for Creating Success in College and in Life.
Along with publication, Beavers earns $100 cash for making the cut.
