(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Commission this week received an update from the Seneca EMS.
Representatives of Holton-based Techs Inc., which owns the ambulance service, said things have been going very well since full-time staffing began January 1st.
Brent Teter with Techs Inc. said their response times have dramatically decreased, and the hospital has acknowledged the improvement to the service this past quarter.
Teter said they’ve been able to hire two new paramedics who live in the area and are planning on hiring a full-time EMT soon.
During the first quarter of this year, the ambulance service responded to 101 calls with more than 3,400 hours of paramedic coverage. That compares to 109 calls during the last quarter of last year with 45 hours of paramedic coverage.
In other business, County Senior Services Director Diane Yunghans informed the Commission that she has hired Regis Feldkamp to fill the open part-time bus driver position in her department. Feldkamp will begin work May 11th at salary of $11.75 an hour.
