Falls City Green Team Touts Recycling
04/22/2015

(KLZA)-- Earth Day celebrates its 45th birthday on April 22nd.

The Falls City Green Team is making a push to make everyone more aware of opportunities to recycle.  Hamilton’s Recycling Center at 6th and Stone Street is already offering the opportunity for everyone to recycle. The business has employees to help with the sorting when you drop items off. The Green Team thanked the Falls City Public School and Sacred Heart students for their efforts to help clean up the school grounds as well as some area parks recently as they learn more about recycling.

The Green Team is hoping to make major strides forward in recycling over the next five years. R.J. Hamilton has been writing grants with a goal to have curbside recycling in Falls City.  The bins would be at your home and you would just put the recyclable items in the bin, roll them to the curb for pickup and they would sort them for you.

Currently items that are accepted for recycling in Falls City include oil filters, automotive batteries, all colors of glass, plastics, cardboard, magazines, catalogs, newspapers, aluminum, tin cans and scrap metals.  Clean clothing, shoes, purses and styrofoam is also being accepted now.

There are also opportunities to recycle plastic bags, used cell phones, metals, inkjet and toner cartridges all in Falls City.

The Green Team also has another goal.  They want to see trash burning stopped in Falls City. Trash fires are bad for children, pets and neighborhoods in general.

With Earth Day on Wednesday, now is a good time to think about ways you can help the recycling effort.
