Nemaha NRD Board Discusses Steamboat Trace Trail Project

(KLZA)-- The Nemaha Natural Resources Board of Directors have selected JEO Consulting Group to prepare the final design and provide construction engineering for upgrade work on a two-mile section of the Steamboat Trace Trail.  The fees for the JEO work is estimated at nearly $53,000.

 The project is expected to be completed by September, 2016.  Nebraska Game and Parks is providing grant funds to do the upgrade to this section of the trail.

A bid for earthwork for relocating a road involved with the Duck Creek flood control / recreation project northwest of Peru was awarded to Kreifels Excavating & Construction in an amount of $364,531.  The bid was the lowest of four submitted.  The project is to be completed later this summer. 

Four well permits were approved.  All the wells for irrigation.  One for the Tom Howe Trust, one for the How Family Trust both in Richardson County;  Another was for Philip Hall and one for John Bartels, both in Johnson County. 

Duane Sugden of Sterling has been chosen as the NRD’s candidate for this year’s Outstanding NRD Director Award, a state award recognition.
