MOUND CITY, Mo. - A bridge replacement project on Interstate 29 over U.S. Hwy 59 in Holt County will reroute traffic, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. Contractors plan to close the northbound bridge on I-29 over U.S. Hwy 59 at exit 75 on April 27. The closure is scheduled to last approximately two months.
During the project, northbound I-29 traffic will be directed around the closure via the on and off ramps at exit 75. Access to U.S. Hwy 59 from northbound I-29 will be closed, as well.
U.S. Hwy 59 will also be closed for the duration of the work from County Road 247 to the southbound on and off ramps of I-29. Motorists on U.S. Hwy 59 will be unable to access northbound I-29.
Southbound I-29 at this location will be closed for approximately two months for a bridge replacement at a later date. In order to minimize the impact to motorists, the southbound bridge replacement could begin during the northbound bridge closure. Access and rerouting for southbound traffic will be similar to that of northbound travelers.
All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change. MoDOT encourages all motorists to slow down, buckle up, eliminate distractions and drive safely to ensure everyone is able to Arrive Alive.
