New Doctor To Begin Practice in Falls City in 2016
04/20/2015

(KLZA)-- Community Medical Center in Falls City hosted the annual public information meeting earlier this month.  Hospital CEO Ryan Larsen conducted the meeting with Board members in attendance

One of the highlights of the meeting was the public announcement that in 2016 a new doctor will begin his practice at Family Medicine Clinic in Falls City.  Dr. Justin Westengaard has signed a contract and will join the local practice in about a year.  Larsen said there is also a possibility that other medical students with local ties could be coming back in the future.

In addition, it sounds like the already busy specialty clinic, will be having even more doctors bring their specialty services to Community Medical Center. A new rheumatologist has joined the hospital along with two new ENT’s and the search is on for pain management and pulmonology specialists.

Even though the hospital in Falls City is relatively new,  the Board of Directors is considering additional surgical space. Larsen said review with architects is underway to possibly enlarge the surgery facility. While the new surgery sweet was not built to handle the number of surgeries being performed since the new hospital opened.

An expanded surgery area would allow more than one surgeon to be involved on a given day.

Larsen noted that in 2014 Family Medicine Clinic was recognized as a State Certified Patient Centered Medical Home. A program the staff did was create a computer based program to identify patients that would benefit from diabetic followup and try to help them avoid those problems.
