(KAIR)--The Kansas Department of Transportation is warning motorists of a lane closure over the Amelia Earhart Memorial Bridge, set to take place next week.
According to a release from KDOT, both east and westbound right lanes on U.S. Highway 59 over the bridge will be closed, one direction at a time, for bridge inspection work.
The inspections are scheduled to take place Monday and Tuesday between 9:00am and 3:30pm.
The closures are needed so crews can utilize special equipment to safely inspect the high steel portions on the bridge's arch, as well as underneath the bridge deck.
Drivers should expect only minor delays and will be directed through the work zone via cones and signage.
