New Vermillion USD 380 Superintendent Hired

(KMZA)--A Dodge City woman has been hired as the new superintendent of Vermillion USD 380. 

Mischel Miller will begin work July 1st at an annual salary of $99,000.   She will replace current superintendent Richard Flores, who is retiring after 50 years in education.

Miller, who is currently the assistant superintendent of secondary education at Dodge City USD 443, was among three candidates interviewed by the USD 380 Board of Education for the position.  She was offered a contract at special meeting April 6th. 

According to the USD 380 district web site, Miller has a broad educational background. She earned her bachelor of science in elementary education from St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City. She went on to complete her Masters of Science in Educational Administration from Ft. Hays State University and her Education Specialist degree in Administrator Leadership from Walden University.

She began her career as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher in Dodge City before moving to Sublette where she taught Title I Reading, Elementary Music, and Computer Lab. Following her teaching career, Miller served as a professional Development Consultant with Southwest Plains Regional Service Center. She started her career in administration as a middle school principal in Hugoton, and has been in her current position since 2012

Miller is the mother of two grown daughters.  Miller said she is excited to be part of the Vermillion USD 380 family
