(KMZA)--An improvement project is to begin sometime next week on U.S. 36 Highway in Seneca from 1st to 11th Streets.
The project includes the installation of new storm sewer from 4th to 11th Streets, and all new curb and gutter and driveway access from 1st to 11th Streets.
Work will take place daily Monday through Friday during daylight hours throughout the project duration.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says that once work begins, eastbound and westbound U.S. 36 from 1st to 11th Streets will be reduced to one open lane each direction through the duration of the project. Traffic impacts will also include closures to driveway entrances and side road access along the highway.
Traffic will be directed via signage and cones through the project work zone. There will be a 25 mph posted speed limit and a 10-foot lane width restriction through the work zone.
Leavenworth-based Lexeco is the primary contractor on the $1.3 million project. The project is scheduled to be completed in early September, weather allowing.
