(KNZA)--Kansas First Lady Mary Brownback has announced the winners of the 2015 Kansas Book Festival Grants, and several local libraries are among the grant recipients.
15 public and school libraries across the state will share in receiving a portion of the more than $11,000 in grants from corporate and private sponsors.
Locally, the Wamego Public Library will receive a nearly $930 grant; Leavenworth’s Earl M. Lawson Elementary School, a $800 grant; the Horton Public Library, a $500 grant; and Vermillion Public Library, a $300 grant.
The grants will help the libraries purchase new technology and a wide range of reading materials.
First Lady Brownback says the Kansas Book Festival works year round to promote literacy and encourage a life-long love of reading.
The 2015 Kansas Book Festival will be held September 12 at the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka. All age groups are invited to attend the free, day-long event. To learn more, visit kansasbookfestival.com.
