(KAIR)--An alleged Atchison County assault Wednesday afternoon lead to the arrest of a 29-year-old Atchison man.
Sheriff Jack Laurie says the incident took place after Corey Jones, along with an unknown female suspect, attempted to sell some property to the residents of a home located near 286th and Pratt Road. However, the transaction never happened, as one of the residents, noticing a gun in Jones' possession, immediately locked the door and called the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies, armed with a description of the the suspect vehicle, located it moments later in the 900 block of Atchison's South Fifth Street. Jones was taken into custody and booked into the Atchison County Jail on charges including aggravated assault, criminal possession of a firearm, and driving while suspended.
The unidentified female suspect remains at large.
The case remains under investigation.
