Nebraska LEAD Program Recruiting New Members

(KLZA)-- Dr. Terry Hejny Director of the Nebraska LEAD Program is touring the state looking for participants for LEAD Class 35 which begins in September.  

Hejny explained the LEAD stands for Leadership, Education, Action, Development.  It is a two-year program designed to develop future agricultural leaders for the state and nation.  

LEAD program participants are typically men or women, 25-50 years of age involved in farming, ranching and agribusiness careers that support production agriculture. Participants will take part in 12 three-day, theme based seminars, that take place across the state.  There will be six programs each year.  The first year will focus on local, state and national issues.  It also includes a 10-day study seminar traveling to Kansas City, Chicago and Washington D.C. Year two will focus more on international issues and will included an international seminar that lasts approximately two weeks. 

Dr. Hejny said benefits for those that complete the LEAD program include gaining knowledge on all sides of issues, staying current with the issues, it provides training to help the individual become a spokesperson for agriculture and agribusiness while providing you with a network of experts.
