(KAIR)--With the recent arrival of warmer weather, some may be starting to think about getting started on spring cleaning. Atchison is offering a special free service to current solid waste customers in the city to help aid in that cleaning
Atchison Public Works and Utilities Director Justin Pregont says that Atchison County has recently made some changes at their transfer station, so any yard waste set out for pick up needs to be placed in either biodegradable paper bags or hard sided containers. Pregont says this is because yard waste does not need to be mixed with normal trash. It is separated into either a burn pile or a compost pile.
Pregont says the city will also pick up larger household items such a sofas, washing machines and beds as well.
Yard waste is picked up each Tuesday, while bulky household items are picked up every Thursday. To schedule a pickup, call the city shop at 913-367-5561 no later than 3:30 the day before you want your goods collected.
