U.S. 36 Bridge Work Planned In Brown County
03/20/2015

(KNZA)--Replacement of a broken wing wall is the reason for a Brown County bridge repair project set to start Monday.

The work will be done on the south side of the U.S. 36 bridge, located about two miles west of the U.S. 75 interchange near Fairview.

A news release from the Kansas Department of Transportation states that both eastbound and westbound U.S. 36 traffic will be reduced to one lane starting early Monday morning, with traffic to be directed by signage and temporary traffic signals installed at both ends of the work zone over the bridge.

The speed limit through the work zone will be posted at 30 mph.

The work, which includes replacement of the existing wing wall with a new reinforced concrete wall, will be conducted by Reece Construction, of Scandia, Kansas, at a cost of nearly $136,000.

The project is expected to be complete in early June, if weather allows.
