(KNZA)--The Sac and Fox Tribe has been awarded a $20,000 federal grant through the STOP Violence Against Women Act.

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback Monday announced nearly $1.2 million in federal grants through the STOP Program to twenty-five organizations in the state.

The program supports communities in their efforts to develop and strengthen effective law enforcement and prosecution strategies to combat violent crimes against women; develop and strengthen victim services in cases involving violent crimes against women; and promote a coordinated community response to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault/rape, and stalking.
