Brown Co Considering Penalities for Burn Ban Violations
03/17/2015

(KNZA)--The Brown County Commission is considering adoption of a resolution that would establish penalties for burn ban violations.

County Attorney Kevin Hill Monday presented Commissioners with a copy of a resolution adopted by another county for their review.

Hill told commissioners that a county can enforce a burn ban by resolution and penalties for violation of the ban would be enforced through District Court.

Hill said he would draft a resolution for the Commission to consider at next week’s meeting.

A burn ban was imposed in Brown County March 7th following numerous out-of-control grass fires and will remain in effect until further notice.

In other business, Commissioner Keith Olsen presented a plaque to the family of the late Paula Jones recognizing her 25 years of service to the county.

Jones, who served as county appraiser for several years, died unexpectedly last month  at the age of 54.

Accepting the plaque was her husband, Vurn.  Also present were other members of her family.
