(KLZA)-- The Pawnee City, City Council spent a good portion of their meeting time this week discussing sewer issues. Andrew Synhorst and Dane Simonson with J-E-O Engineers attended the meeting to review the 2014 Utility Cost of Service Analysis & Rate Design the company prepared. Currently all rates are the same with not difference between a home, a commercial business or an industry.
The idea is to develop rates that will have the biggest users, pay the biggest fee. The only Pawnee City Industry that utilizes the sewer system is C.J. Foods. Jason Lang with the company attended the meeting. JEO offered some recommendations and is asking the City and C.J. Foods to come up with some rate proposals that would work for all parties involved.
The Council also heard a report about a sink hole near 11th and B Streets. Johnson Service Company was called in to take a look at the issue and found only that the water main was sagging a big due to dirt settling. The pipe is in excellent shape. No other problems were found.
Pawnee County Sheriff Jayme Reed met with the Council to discuss dog licenses. Several tickets have been issued to dog owners that have not licensed their pets. If the license is purchased prior to the Court date the ticket will be abated. The ticket is $50 plus court costs if the license is not purchased.
A number of ordinance updates were approved on second reading. The gas service has been removed from the Gaston Nuisance property at 1138 G Street and dumpsters move in. The property owners are beginning to dismantle the home on the property.
The Pawnee City Council will be accepted bids on a 1997 Ford Pickup for sale. Bids will be opened during the April 13th City Council meeting.
The cost per 1,000 gallons of water produced for Pawnee City water customers was reviewed. It costs the city $1.51 per thousand gallons of water.
