JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - The full House will consider giving Missouri's emergency agency additional spending authority this year to use federal money on disaster-relief projects.
The House Budget Committee on Tuesday approved $124 million of federal money in the fiscal year ending June 30 for local repair projects in response to the 2011 tornado in Joplin and other disasters.
State budget director Linda Luebbering says about $30 million of that is for repair projects already completed by local governments.
The committee also approved $8.5 million of additional general revenue for emergency spending authority in part depleted by the use of the Missouri National Guard and Missouri State Highway Patrol in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson.
This supplemental budget request still must be approved by the House and Senate before going to the governor.
