Mound City School Board Approves Calendar and Extends Superintendent Contract
(KLZA)-- The Mound City School Board conducted a public hearing last week during the monthly meeting to receive input on the 2015-16 school year calendar. A local Boy Scout Troop was in attendance and did ask a few questions as part of a Merit Badge project.
Following the hearing the Board approved starting school on August 17th for students with school dismissing for the year on May 20th, 2016. There will be 170 school days for students and 180 days for teachers.
Following an executive session to discussion for personnel, the Board voted to hire Kerri Boyd to serve as a Special Education Teacher for the 2015-16 school year at Mound City. Boyd is a Mound City graduate, teaching this year in the St. Joseph School system.
The Board also voted to extend the contract of Superintendent Ken Eaton another year making it a three-year contract.
Debi Clifton the Reading Coach for grades Kindergarten through 4th Grade presented information on her program. High School junior class member Katie Smith presented information on the Art Club fundraisers, field trips and some projects they are doing to the schools 100-year celebration.
The Board also held the annual Comprehensive School Improvement Program review. No changes were made to the plan this year.
