(KNZA)--A celebration of the past year's accomplishments, as the Hiawatha Foundation for Economic Development held their annual meeting, and banquet, Thursday evening.
Over 80 people gathered at the Klinefelter Barn, east of Hiawatha, for the business meeting and meal.
HFED Board President Nancy Daeschner cited the hiring of Kristen Hillyer as the organization's Executive Director as the top achievement of 2014. “Probably the biggest accomplishment I feel for us is getting a director on board that is energetic and this coming year will get a lot of things accomplished. She was just getting her feet on the ground, and now she knows what the ropes are and so I think we'll have great things happen this year.”
The evening concluded with an inside look at the operations of the Highland Community College-owned Klinefelter Farm by Projects Manager Wendell Ganstrom.
His presentation featured an overview of the activities held at the rural Hiawatha property, with both the college, and the community, regularly utilizing the unique location.
