One Injured in Falls City House Fire

(KLZA)-- A Falls City resident was hospitalized for injuries received in a house fire late Tuesday morning.. 

According to the report from Falls City Assistant Fire Chief Jon McQueen when firemen arrived on the scene at 2020 Wilson Street flames were coming from the southwest windows of the first floor of the home. 

An unidentified occupant of the home was transported by ambulance, no report on the condition of the person was made available.

Two investigators with the State Fire Marshall’s Office started to investigate the cause of the fire later in the afternoon

Assistant Fire Chiefs McQueen and Jim Liming praised the efforts of all involved.  14 Falls City Volunteer Firemen responded along with six Falls City Rural Fire Department members.

Firemen remained on the scene until about 5:30 p-m.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.  The house is owned by Charles Clary of Wathena, Kansas. The home is rented by Jerry Walker.

Two dogs were killed by the fire.  

In addition to the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department, the Falls City Rural Fire Department, Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Squad, Falls City Police Department and Richardson County Emergency Management responded to the fire call.
