(KAIR)--The Kansas Highway Patrol is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle that left the scene of an injury wreck in Atchison County Friday evening.
The Patrol says the wreck occurred at approximately 5:30 on U.S. 73 Highway in the southern part of Atchison County, about four miles east of Potter.
31-year-old Bonner Springs resident Kurtis Springstead was southbound, when a maroon or red Ford Explorer, traveling north, went left of center. Springstead made an evasive maneuver, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and cross the center line. A northbound vehicle, driven by 25-year-old Jennifer Keith made an evasive maneuver in an attempt to avoid Springstead, but her car was struck on the east gravel shoulder of the roadway by his pickup truck.
Keith was transported to the Atchison Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries, and Springstead was not hurt.
The Patrol says the Explorer is believed to be an early to mid-2000 model.
Anyone with any information on the vehicle or the wreck, is urged to contact Master Trooper Bryan Clark with the Kansas Highway Patrol at 785-296-3102.
