(KNZA)--A Wathena man is facing charges after leading authorities on a multi-county pursuit Thursday morning.
33-year-old Jessie Edwards was taken into custody after the pursuit ended in northern St. Joseph.
The St. Joseph News Press reports the chase began on Interstate-29 in Platte County around 9 after Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers attempted to stop a Jeep Cherokee for traffic violations.
The pursuit continued north into Buchanan County, then into Clinton County, before eventually entering the city limits of St. Joseph.
Police say Edwards caused two wrecks as officers pursued him through St. Joseph.
He fled from his vehicle and was located a short time later.
