(KNZA)--Sabetha Middle School Principal Tom Palmer is retiring.
Superintendent Todd Evans says the USD 113 Board of Education Monday evening accepted Palmer's resignation, effective at the end of the current school year.
Palmer has served as principal at the Sabetha Middle School since 1994.
He was named Kansas Middle School Principal of the year in 2011.
Evans says the board also accepted the resignation of Sabetha Elementary School 1st grade teacher Margaret Schulte, effective at the end of the current school year. Schulte has taught at the elementary school since 2011. Prior to that, she was a teacher at the Bern school from 1986 to 2011.
Following an executive session, the Board approved contract extensions for Sabetha Elementary School Principal Matt Garber and Wetmore Academic Center Principal Janelle Boden through the 2015-2016.
