(KNZA)--A 17-year-old McLouth boy is dead, and six others injured, as the result of a two vehicle late Saturday afternoon crash in Jefferson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened around 4:30, on K-16 Highway, one-and-a-half-miles east of Oksaloosa, when the 17-year-old, identified as Hunter Levi Terrell, was westbound and attempted to pass a pick-up truck. When his Honda Civic reentered the lane, he lost control, causing the car to skid broadside. It then entered the westbound lanes and was struck by a Chevy Suburban driven by 26-year-old Carolanne Todd, of Oskaloosa.
Todd and her five passengers, children ranging in age from 1 to 10-years-old, all suffered what the Patrol describes as disabling injuries, and were transported for hospital treatment at Topeka's Stormont-Vail.
Terrell was transported to the Barnett Family Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
The Patrol says Terrell was buckled up, but seatbelt usage in Todd's vehicle remains unknown as the investigation continues.

This article states that seatbelt usage in Todds vehicle remains unknown. This is false. Truth be told, the driver and all passengers were in fact wearing seatbelts including the two youngest in carseats.
