(KLZA)-- Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise, announced in an e-mail to investors over the weekend that Gold Star Sausage Company is planning a Falls City location.
The company plans to utilize the former Mickelberry building at 810 East 5th Street for its private label production of hot dogs and sausages of all varieties. Company President Rick Rue is quoted in the news release saying “We are excited about this multi-million dollar project, which will include significant capital investment, infrastructure upgrades, and the creation of 40+ new employment opportunities.”
The plan is to open the new location early in 2015. Jobs created are in the food processing industry and will include managers, quality assurance, maintenance, production line supervisors and office personnel.
Gold Star uses fresh, domestically produced beef and pork trimmings. Their batch cook process and quick freeze techniques combined with old-world craftsmanship with modern day efficiencies.
According to the company website Gold Star Sausage has been based in Denver, Colorado since 1936. The company is a private label producer of hot dogs and sausages of all varieties, including skinless hot dogs of all varieties and sizes, skinless sausage including beef, pork & beef, polish and other varieties as well as natural casing sausage.
Rue says the company has been and still is a family owned business. The company has outgrown their current facility and are looking to grow our national distribution as well as capitalize on export.
