Survey Sent to USD 415 Patrons

(KNZA)-- A survey has been sent to patrons in Hiawatha USD 415 to gather their input on two possible bond proposals for facility improvements.

Superintendent Penny Hargrove says nearly 36-hundred (3,582) survey’s were sent out Friday to registered voters in the district.

A committee of patrons, armed with an evaluation of the district's buildings needs, developed the two options.

Option one includes upgrades and repairs to the existing facilities at an estimated cost of nearly $9.4 to $10.8 million.

Option two expands those upgrades to include construction of a new elementary school multipurpose gym, high school/middle school career exploration center and upgrades to the high school bathrooms. Both the new facilities would include FEMA storm shelters. The estimated cost of both options combined is nearly $18 to $21 million.

Information is also included on the impact the options would have on property taxes.

Patrons are asked to return an enclosed postcard by November 21st.
