Mound City Aldermen Discuss Dog Issues
11/11/2014

(KLZA)-- The Mound City Board of Aldermen met November 6th.

City Attorney Brian Tubbs recommended the Board leave the city code as written concerning Prohibited Dogs.  The current regulation includes dogs with characteristics of pit bulls and rotweillers.  If there is question of the breed then a blood test needs to be done, which increases the cost, but cuts down on the time of getting the issue resolved.

Attorney Tubbs will be working with Police Chief Panning to get future dog breed concerns handled in a timely fashion with stricter consequences. Tubbs stated there is another section concerning a dog biting someone.

Police Chief Panning reported he had been involved in an automobile accident with the 2012 Chevy Impala in St. Joseph.  Chief Panning was not injured. There was damage to the front fender of the car.  Two estimates were received, the low was $3,607.  The insurance carrier will be in touch with the City on the final decision for repairs.  The deductible is $1,000.

Chief Panning also said the 2015 Dodge Ram Patrol vehicle has been ordered from Laukamper Motors. It should arrive in 3-4 weeks.  The low bid for the police equipment and installation was approved in the amount of $4,289.

The Council did approve the day after Thanksgiving as a holiday. City Hall will be closed on Thanksgiving and the Friday following.

The next meeting of the Mound City Aldermen will be December 11th.
