Brown Co to Participate in Salary Survey

(KNZA)--Brown County will participate in a salary survey being conducted by the Kansas Association of Counties of all 105 counties in the state.
Following discussion at their meeting on Monday, the County Commission voted 2-1 to pay the $175 fee to be part of the KAC survey.  Commission Chairman Keith Olsen cast the lone no vote.
Commissioner Warren Ploeger announced that the Northeast Kansas Household Hazardous Waste Program has been disbanded by Jackson County, who was the host county.  Brown County had previously decided not to join the program for 2015.  Four counties were included in the program—Atchison, Brown, Doniphan and Jackson.
The commission signed a letter of support for the Brown County Historical Society   The Historical Society plans to seek a Heritage Trust grant to provide funding to maintain the Hiawatha Memorial Auditorium.
Commissioners also discussed employee health insurance.  They voted to continue paying the full amount for the employee’s health insurance and to contribute an additional $130 per month toward the three other tiers.
The commission last week renewed a contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield for employee health insurance for 2015.
