(KNZA)--United States Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins came to Hiawatha Wednesday morning, visiting several local businesses while meeting with the owners.
The Kansas Republican was escorted on her walking tour of Oregon Street by the President and Vice-President of the Hiawatha Chamber of Commerce.
Due to her schedule, Jenkins was only able to make select stops, but says she was impressed with the local growth, and the grassroots efforts to start the businesses, she experienced during her time in the Brown County community. “I'm very impressed with the gems that we got to see in Hiawatha today, some of the smaller, locally owned businesses that we don't always take the opportunity to get to know when we're in town,” Jenkins told MSC News. “Very impressed with the heart here in Brown County.”
Following her time in Hiawatha, Jenkins traveled to Sabetha where she toured the Crosswind Petfoods manufacturing facility.
