(KTNC)--The Humboldt City Council approved contracts with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and Southeast Nebraska Development District on Tuesday night.

The contracts with the Department of Economic Development are for Affordable Housing Grants.

One grant, for $166,485, will allow for five housing rehab projects with demolition. The other grant, for over $221,000, will allow for seven homes to be rehabilitated.

The council also approved two separate contracts with SENDD to administer the housing grants.

In other action Tuesday, the council approved a request from the Chamber of Commerce to use the Square Park for Halloween activities on October 31.

The council reviewed a water purchase interlocal agreement. City attorney Vic Faesser will review the contract before bringing it back to the council for approval.
