(KLZA)-- Nebraska unemployment was steady in September at 3.6 percent. In most counties in Southeast, Nebraska the jobless rate was lower for the month and from September, 2013.
Richardson and Nemaha counties had the biggest drop in unemployment realizing a decline of 6-tenths of a percent for the month. In Richardson County the September unemployment rate was 4 percent. In Nemaha County 3.8 percent, Pawnee County continues to have the lowest unemployment rate in the area at 2.6 percent. In Johnson County the September rate was 3.8 percent, Otoe County 3.1 percent and Gage County 4 percent.
Gage County was the only county with a higher unemployment rate in the area in September, up 4-tenths of a percent. Gage County was also the only county in the extreme Southeast corner of the state with a higher unemployment rate in September 2014, than in September of 2013.
The Nebraska unemployment rate of 3.6 percent is well below the national rate of 5.9 percent.
