(KLZA)-- The Falls City Council conducted a quick meeting Tuesday night.
Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise Executive Director Beckie Cromer presented the 2014 Third Quarter report to the Council. She noted during the period, local industries had a net gain of 18 employees. While no details were given, Cromer reported EDGE is working with a prospect considering locating a food processing business in Falls City that could employ up to 40 people. At least three other locations, in different states are also working with the prospect.
The Council approved three ordinances on first reading. The first was on an updated comprehensive development plan, second was on a subdivision regulation and the third concerned zoning regulations.
Approval was given for use of Stone Street for the Veterans Day Parade November 11th and permission was given to WASP Inc. to rent Prichard Auditorium December 5th for a Christmas pary. The vote was 6-1 with Council member Judy Murphy casting the nay vote and Council member Scholl absent. By the same vote the Council gave favorable comment to a request for a special designated liquor license for the December 5th event at the auditorium.
Council President Jerry Oliver presided at the meeting in the absence of Mayor Tim Hersh.
