(KNZA)--The Chief of the Soldier Fire Department has been arrested for embezzlement.
According to Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse, the crime allegedly happened while 45-year-old Ryan White served as the treasurer of the Soldier Ball Association from 2012 through 2013.
Discrepancies in the association's accounting led to an investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and White's arrest on Sunday.
He was taken into custody on a warrant for two felony counts of theft and five counts of misdemeanor theft.
It's alleged that White wrote two Ball Association checks, totaling over $1,000 each, to his own business account, while also taking association monies without authorization on five other occasions.
A search warrant was served on White's Soldier residence on October 8th, while subpoenas were served to obtain his banking records.
Following his arrest, White was booked into the Jackson County Jail but was released Sunday after posting a $15,000 bond.
