(KAIR)--An Atchison man was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when his motorcycle crashed on U.S. Highway 73 in Atchison.
According to Police Chief Mike Wilson, 58-year-old William Murphy was southbound near the 800 block of the highway, when the rear wheel of his motorcycle locked up, causing him to lose control and skid several feet before being ejected.
Murphy was transported to the Atchison Hospital, but later flown by helicopter to a Kansas City hospital for treatment of possible head injuries.
Wilson says that Murphy was not wearing a helmet when the wreck occurred just after 5:00.
