(KLZA)-- Homecoming week will begin with the Sacred Heart Volleyball Team vs Johnson Brock in the HTRS Triangular on Tuesday, October 14, beginning at 5:30 PM and volleyball again on Thursday at Pawnee City at 5:30 PM. The Irish Football Team vs. Sterling game will take place Friday night, October 17, at Jug Brown Stadium beginning at 7:00 PM. The coronation of the Homecoming queen and king will be held following the football game at Jug Brown Stadium. The Homecoming Dance for high school students will be Friday night at Tiehen Gym following the football game and coronation. Candidates for Homecoming Queen are: Abby and Elizabeth Magdanz, daughters of Scott and Joan Magdanz; and Abbey Neddenriep, daughter of Jesse and Sarah Neddenriep. Homecoming King Candidates are: Sawyer Kean, son of Jon and Kellee Kean; Austin Malone, son of Kevin and Janet Malone; and Ben Mullins, son of David and Jeannie Mullins.
Students have planned a number of activities leading up to the coronation. High school students will enjoy dress up days. Tuesday will be America Day, Wednesday will be Duo Day, Thursday will be Career Day, and Friday will be Color Day with the Freshman wearing White, Sophomores wearing Red, Juniors wearing Green and Seniors wearing Black. The K-8 grade students will be allowed to wear blue jeans and a spirit shirt on Friday.
The Student Council will be sponsoring a Taco Feed on Wednesday, October 15, from 5:30 – 7:00 PM for all Sacred Heart Families and Fans at O’Connor Hall. Tacos and drinks will be served. Tacos will sell for $2.00, tea or lemonade for $1.00 and choco tacos for $1.50; followed by the Pep Rally and Football Jersey Auction at 7:00 PM at Tiehen Gym. The Homecoming Scavenger Hunt hosted by the National Honor Society for high school students will be held immediately following the jersey auction and end by 10:30 PM.
Anyone is invited to come and bid on their favorite football player’s jersey with the privilege of wearing the jersey to the homecoming game and then returning the jersey to Sacred Heart School the following Monday.
An All School Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 15, at 9:30 AM in remembrance of deceased Sacred Heart Alumni. The Student Council will be sponsoring a talent show, fun activities and games for high school students and faculty taking place on Thursday afternoon; this will include a picnic for lunch.
