(KAIR)--Atchison city officials are exploring the possibility of bringing a new hotel to the city's riverfront.
During a recent meeting of the Atchison City Commission, the topic of bringing a national hotel chain to the area was brought up. Assistant City Manager Becky Anderson says they have already had a hotel feasibility study done by the Tennessee-based firm Hospitality Real Estate Counselors, and the results concluded that it was feasible for the city to build up to a 65-room hotel.
Anderson says the data provided by the study can help the city when they start negotiations with various hotel chains, since most of them want to know everything about the area they could be building in and if the area can support their business. The study results provide those hard numbers that they want to see.
Anderson says the process is just getting started, as the city is just now starting talks with potential investors.
