(KAIR)--Businesses from all over Atchison will come together on the Commercial Street Mall Thursday evening for a chance to show the community what they have to offer.
The Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce is presenting the seventh annual Taste of Atchison. Project Coordinator Mary Jane Sowers says there will be a bit of everything available for those in attendance. A large variety of local businesses will be on hand to give Atchison residents a sample of what they have to offer.
Sowers adds that the annual photo contest associated with the event was a large success as well. There were twenty six entries, and prizes for first and second place were awarded for each category. Also, each photo will be on display at the event, and participants can vote for their favorite to win the people's choice award.
The Chamber itself will also be running a contest. Each person in attendance is encouraged to stop by the Chamber booth, located in the center of the block to pick up a card listing all participants. As they go to each booth, the business will check off their name on the card. Once the card is filled, they can be placed into a drawing for a $25 Chamber gift card.
Other events include a wing eating contest, featuring match ups between the Atchison Fire Department and Atchison County EMS, as well as the Atchison County Sheriff's Department versus the Atchison Police Department.
The seventh annual Taste of Atchison will take place Thursday evening from 5:00-8:00. The event is free, and everyone is invited to attend.
