(KNZA)--The sentencing for a former area Kansas legislator convicted of bank fraud has been postponed for a second time.
According to the office of U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom, the sentencing for Holton resident Trent LeDoux, which had been scheduled for Monday, is now set for the afternoon of November 17th.
A specific reason for the continuance is not listed in court documents emailed by Grissom's office, but the Topeka Capital Journal reports his attorney filed for the continuance because LeDoux is having surgery on Thursday.
LeDoux was originally scheduled to be sentenced in U.S. District Court in Topeka in August.
LeDoux in May entered a guilty plea to one count of bank fraud, admitting to defrauding Farmers and Merchants Bank in Colby out of more than $465,000.
Prosecutors say he deposited some of the money into his campaign account.
In the plea, LeDoux admitted he falsely told the bank he would use money from three loans to buy cattle, which would be collateral for the loans. He used some of the money to pay off existing debts and used some for his campaign.
LeDoux faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison and fine up to $1 million.
He served as a Republican member of the Kansas House, representing District 50, from June 2011 to 2013.
