(KTNC)--The Humboldt City Council has reversed course on a decision it made last month.
The council had decided at its last meeting to follow a recommendation from city maintenance director Les Drake and require horses in the County Fair parades be bagged. The decision was made as a way to keep city streets clean.
Some horse riders, though, objected to the decision and they expressed their concerns to the city council this week. After hearing the concerns, the council rescinded the requirement that horses be bagged.
Volunteers will follow behind horses to clean up any droppings.
In other business Tuesday night, the Humboldt Council appointed Jason James and Crystal Dunekacke to a four-member Water Purchase Interlocal Agreement Committee. That is a joint committee between the city and Rural Water District. The rural water district will also appoint two members to the committee.
The council approved a contract with Olsson Associates to have the company serve as the city’s Street Superintendent.
And the council approved a motion to purchase six “Children at Play” signs to install at various locations around town.
