(KTNC)--The Pawnee City School Board approved the budget for the next year during a special meeting Wednesday night.
According to Superintendent Stephen Grizzle, the total budget is similar to previous years, totaling $4.3 million. That is a $240,000 increase from last year, with the bulk of the increase due to Special Education costs.
The total levy in the Pawnee City School District increased by just less than one cent from last year. The levy breaks down to 97.5-cents for the General Fund, 1.5-cents for the Special Building Fund, and 4.5-cents for the Qualified Capital Purpose Undertaking Fund, which goes to pay for the energy efficiency and building improvements in the district.
Grizzle says the property tax request is $2.6 million.
The board approved both the budget and levy request unanimously, with board member Randy Niss absent Monday night.
