(KMZA)--The Nemaha County Commission has approved for publication a proposed 2015 county budget of $15.2 million that calls for a nearly 2.3 mill property tax levy increase. The Commission took the action this week.
The budget contains an estimated tax rate of 52.965 mills, which is to generate nearly $6.9 million.
The Commission will consider adoption of the budget following a public hearing on September 15th at 10 in the morning in the Commission room at the Nemaha County Courthouse.
In other business, representatives of the Seneca EMS met with the Commission to further discuss having a paid ambulance staff and increasing the EMT on-call pay in the county.Following discussion, the Commission voted to allow $5 per hour on-call pay for the ambulance services in Seneca and Sabetha effective September 1st. Currently, the weekday on-call pay is $1.25 an hour and the weekend on-call pay is $1.88 an hour.
And the Commission approved publishing a notice of a public hearing on a proposed road opening in Adams Township. Proposed in the opening of a 1 ½ mile portion of N Road. The hearing will be held on September 8th at 10 in the morning in the Commission Room at the Courthouse.
The Commission will meet next week on Tuesday due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday.
