(KTNC)--Falls City will share the cost of new trashcans on Stone Street with Falls City Main Street.
The City Council agreed to split the cost of seven new trashcans to replace ones that were removed recently. The total cost for the new trashcans is $4,400, making the city’s share $2,200.
Falls City Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Director David Branch told the Council they, and six businesses, are pooling resources to buy advertisement on a billboard along Highway 75, promoting Falls City. Branch said he’s spent $6,000 in advertisement this year and is looking to increase that amount next year.
In other action Monday, the council approved a request by Tim Curtis to operate an automotive repair business at 723 Pacific Street. The area is zoned R4. City Administrator Gary Jorn said that type of business is an approved use with council approval.
The council approved the one-percent allowable growth for the 2014-2015 Fiscal Year Budget.
The council approved a change order to a Housing Rehab Contract, increasing the amount of the contact by a little more than one thousand dollars.
With the change, Falls City has obligated just over $210,000 to repair nine homes with the current housing rehab grant.
The next City Council meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2.
