Hiawatha City Budget Approved
07/24/2014

(KNZA)--When no community comment, or protest, was heard during a public hearing held this week, the Hiawatha City Commission adopted the 2015 budget unanimously.
Mayor Crosby Gernon was absent during the session.
The near $6.3 million budget contains a more than 1.7 mill property tax levy increase.
The approved budget contains an estimated tax rate of 47.53 mills, anticipated to raise just over $1 million.
Although the property tax levy is up over this year's, it's still lower than the 2013 levy.
